Some Legs You Got There

Why, thank you. (wink, wink).

Here I am... half way through the summer thinking about table legs and shin splits. They go together, right?

We'll start with the table legs....

Patrick is working on three dining tables with industrial machine legs. We were able to get a hold some pretty cool antique sewing machine legs. The only problem with Pat making furniture is I end up getting attached and want the same things in our house.
I love the fact this set still has the original yellow color!

Now, on to the shin splits.... Here's a picture straight from the scene of the crime - Brandywine Park!

With the summer off (have I been mentioning that a lot?) I have no excuse not to run. I signed up for a half-marathon in September to help me stay on track and it's been working except for my recently acquired shin splits. Does anyone else have this problem?

It happened right around the same time as I got this . I think part of the problem was that I started pushing myself too hard when I was keeping track of my time. I've taken almost a week off and hope I can get back on track without losing too much momentum. Does anyone else have this problem?

A Little Bit of Everything

Thanks for spreading the word about Pat's work. It's working :)

Here are some pictures of a project he's been working on...
I really love the ceiling in this room. And I know Pat is thrilled that he finished sanding ALL of it last night! He was dreading that part of the job and I think it lived up to his expectations. I'll post some more pictures when everything is complete. For now.... enjoy the work in progress.

Now, onto highlights our week so far:

Pat found his new favorite t-shirt........ at wawa of all places.

I picked up a new Rick Bayless cookbook. We give the grilled rack of lamb and tomatillo salsa two thumbs up. My ability to pronounce tomatillo gets two thumbs down.

Cormac was sick as a dog (haha) and had to go to the vet Saturday but he's bouncing back nicely.

Two Brews for Behind the Bar

With all of the bbqs and fireworks this weekend it seems like a fitting time to review two of our favorite beers and highlight two bar projects.

This bar was a residential project for a couple in Staten Island. Behind the bar Pat included custom cabinetry, space for a mini-fridge and a sink.

The bar below was a refinishing job done for a restaurant in Manhattan. The bar top was stained to match the existing cabinetry.

So, without further ado, here are two beer recommendations and information about brewery tours if you happen to be in Brooklyn or Lewes, DE this summer.

Liz's beer of choice:
Brooklyn Summer Ale
Brooklyn Brewery

Pat's beer of choice:
Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA
So.... What does your dream bar look like? What is your drink of choice this weekend?

Cheers!
